
ABOUT MICHAEL REXFORD:
Michael Rexford is a partner in the entertainment and media practice group in Manatt, Phelps & Phillips’ Los Angeles office. His practice, a substantial amount of which consists of Nashville-based business, is primarily focused on the representation of creative talent and companies in music, media, fashion, branding, new technologies and digital media. His clients include songwriters, music publishers, recording artists, producers, managers, music industry executives, fashion designers and apparel and accessory companies.
For most of the decade prior to joining Manatt in 2012, Michael was the Vice President of Business Affairs at Universal Music Publishing Group, where he provided business and legal advice to the company and handled company-wide business affairs and legal needs.
Michael received a Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston, and a Juris Doctor degree from University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco.
A former volunteer suicide prevention hotline counselor at Los Angeles’s Suicide Prevention Center, Michael is the founder and CEO of the suicide prevention and awareness foundation, LightHopeLife, one of the missions of which is to educate people how to talk to someone in crisis.
