Join us for a discussion led by Dr. Steve Guthrie with experts in the fields of music production, theology, physics, audio engineering, sound science, and musical artists.

Panelists include:

Latifah Alattas, singer, songwriter, and mix engineer known for her work with Page CXVI, Moda Spira, and The Porter’s Gate; producer for artists including Christa Wells and Carly Bannister, and contributor to the Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part II soundtrack.

Lucas Morton, Nashville-based producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist with over 250 million streams; collaborator with artists such as Jordy Searcy and Jill Andrews; voting member of the Recording Academy.

Emily Russell, audio engineer and immersive audio specialist who has worked on projects for Carrie Underwood, Weezer, and The Goo Goo Dolls, and developed Sollos Sound Therapy with Apple Music; owner of Crooked Letter Eye Productions and member of AES, WAM, and She Is The Music.

Dr. Brett Leonard, Governor of the Audio Engineering Society, recording engineer and researcher who has worked with Grammy-winning artists and leads Music Technology at the University of Indianapolis.

Dr. Miriam A. Kolar, acoustician and anthropologist leading archaeoacoustics research at the UNESCO World Heritage site Chavín de Huántar, Peru; co-organizer of the NEH-supported Digital Aural Heritage project and director of Cultural Acoustics Research.

Julian Davis Reid, theologian, writer, and musician based in Chicago; founder of Notes of Rest® and performer with The JuJu Exchange, blending Black music and spiritual practice across venues from Lollapalooza to the Montreal Jazz Fest.

Dr. Joshua Kalin Busman, Associate Professor of Music and Assistant Dean at UNC Pembroke, musicologist studying evangelical worship, affect, and media; co-chair of the AAR Music and Religion Unit and composer for the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Scott Hawley, physicist, musician, and AI researcher at Belmont University; Head of Research for Hyperstate Music AI, exploring ethical AI and music technology; published in Science, Acoustics Today, and Perspectives on Science and Christian Faith.

Dr. Aaron Howard, founder and CEO of As One Christian Diversity, and specialist in divine command ethics, virtue ethics, and emotion in worship; ethicist and theologian at Lipscomb University.

Chris Thiessen, writer, editor, and arts leader who bridges faith and culture, with work in Entertainment Weekly and Bandcamp Daily; contributor to Theology, Religion, and Twin Peaks (Lexington Books, 2025).

Dr. Doyuen Ko, award-winning sound engineer, researcher, and Professor of Audio Engineering at Belmont University, specializing in virtual acoustics, spatial sound, and heritage preservation; a five-time Juno Award winner and NEH grant recipient.

Dr. Junius Johnson, theologian, author, and musician specializing in beauty, imagination, and wonder; executive director of Junius Johnson Academics and author of five books including On Teaching Fairy Stories; also a professional French horn player and honorary member of the U.S. Army Field Band.

Rev. Dr. Leopoldo A. Sánchez, Professor of Systematic Theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, noted for work in pneumatology and theology of migration; principal double bassist in the Saint Louis Civic Orchestra and scholar of theology and salsa music.

Madeline Ivey, audio engineer and poet completing a B.S. in Audio Engineering Technology and minor in Religion and the Arts at Belmont University; passionate about the intersection of sound, story, and theology.

Dr. Matthew Zeh, Assistant Professor of Physics at Belmont University specializing in acoustics and the physics of sound; bridges music and engineering in his teaching on the science of audio.
