Michael Farrell, a professional musician for more than 20 years, conducts this seminar, which considers both the creative and practical aspects of becoming a music industry professional. Though these dual threads often seem at odds with each other, Farrell’s approach is devoted to fostering the creative spirit as well as developing the practical mechanics for a career in music. The program draws on his personal experiences in the music business, and is geared toward both graduate and undergraduate students on the verge of entering the job market. Mr. Farrell’s background in the recording industry, the live performance market and the market for TV and film music will be discussed.
