Occupational WELL Core
About Ayesha Richardson:
Ayesha is an educator by nature, connecting with people through candid conversation, learning and humanity. As an ex-Teacher for the Deaf (TOD), Ayesha understands the importance of empathy and resilience, building confidence in students and fellow educators to execute on their potential. Ayesha spent 6 years working at a nonprofit to support high risk students with improving their attendance, social emotional learning and grades in ELA and Math. She also hired AmeriCorps members into classroom roles to continue working with New York City communities and students. Ayesha received her MEd in Deaf Education from Hunter College. She worked as a TOD for a few months and realized that her passion lay not only with the development of her students, but with the development of her fellow teachers, helping to edit their resumes, seek programs to build on their skills and learn different ways they can break into industries using their skills. She believes in the potential of anyone and pushes people to say, “why not”. Ayesha spends her personal time raising her toddler, painting and visiting small towns with friends. Ayesha is looking forward to building on existing college relationships and creating new relationships to support with hiring candidates with transferable skills. She is also excited about the opportunity to create a more intentional internship program at Penguin Random House.
