Panelist Bios:
Richard Travali began his career at NY’s legendary Hit Factory Recording Studios, assisting world class engineers and mixers such as Bob Clearmountain, Tom Lord Alge, and Roy Halee. He’s recorded Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, and Luther Vandross in addition to working with Stevie Wonder, Sting, and Paul Simon — including the latter’s “The Rhythm of the Saints” LP, “The Capeman” musical, and “Paul Simon’s Concert in the Park,” which earned him an Emmy Award Nomination for live sound mixing. Travali went freelance in the 1990s and began working with Puff Daddy in the early days of Bad Boy Entertainment, who called on him to mix the majority of Notorious B.I.G.’s debut album. Travali mixed numerous platinum and gold records, with Billboard #1 hits in the Pop, R&B, and Hip Hop genres. Notable producers and artists worked with include Robin Thicke, Pharrell, The Neptunes, and The Trackmasters.
Mark McBryde has worked in post-production audio for film and television for almost 30 years. He worked as a Foley Artist at Technicolor, working on shows Hannah Montana, Lost, Grey’s Anatomy and many others. In 2012, Mark joined the re-recording mix team at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. Mark mixed “For Better or Worse” and “The Have and the Have Nots.” Mark returned to LA to run Deluxe Media’s ADR and Foley Stage. He also worked on their foreign feature mix team, mixing features for Fox and Dreamworks. Now approaching 400 credits, Mark’s work is known for creating and producing personalized, industry standard, post production audio services.
Emily Pikul received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Music Technology from Iowa State University. She then moved to Nashville to start a Master of Science in Audio Engineering degree at Belmont University where she researched spatial audio applications for studio and live music production. Emily has embraced the freelance audio engineer role mixing bands around Nashville, patching festival and orchestra stages, building installation projects, and touring as a PA technician.
