Ava DuVernay’s four-part series for Netflix, “When They See Us” (2019), depicts the unjust arrest and incarceration of the Central Park Five and their lives since. Dr. Amy Bertram, a Lecturer in Belmont’s Cinema, Television, and Media Department, will lead interactive pre- and post-film discussions based on the series opener and DuVernay’s learning tools based on this episode through her outreach organization, Array Now.
